With 2020 coming to a close, we are wrapping up the year with the countdown of our favorite wedding trends of the year.
Customized Wedding Jackets: Whether denim or leather is your style, a customized wedding jacket is a perfect way to achieve a “cool- girl vibe on your big day! It’s not only a functional piece of attire, but it provides you with an easy way to transform your dress into a fun & fresh look for your reception or after-party.
Smaller Wedding Parties: As a result of micro-weddings on the rise, we’ve seen wedding parties decrease in size. With large wedding parties come the pressure to manage all the different schedules, wardrobe, hair & makeup, etc., often resulting in additional layers of stress for couples. Minimizing the amount of wedding party members allows you to focus on your celebration without unnecessary drama.
Non- Traditional Bridesmaids dresses: Bridesmaids’ dresses have come a long way. The idea of bridesmaid’s dresses being the same is out, and couples are now exploring outfits that are similar but more unique. We see couples experiment with colors in the same palette, but with different textures and styles in a way that complements each person best. Taking this trend one step further, some brides are ditching the dresses altogether and opting for a fun jumpsuit style.
Detailed Name Cards: With guest counts dropping, couples have made use of their additional funds to focus on the little details that make a lasting impact on their big day. Things like unique and detailed name cards and thoughtful stationery have taken center stage. This trend is a planner’s dream, and we know that it will hold in the coming year.
Smaller, Intimate Celebrations: If 2020 was good for anything, it popularized smaller, more intimate celebrations. Although this concept developed out of necessity, micro weddings have allowed couples to stretch their budgets more creatively. We’ve seen more inspired details, the increased engagement between guests, and overall ease presiding over the celebration. We think it’s safe to say; small weddings are here to stay.
Sustainable Weddings: This year, there was an increased focus on how weddings impact our planet. More couples are conscious of ways to reduce their carbon footprint and use their wedding to give back. We’ve seen everything from requests for donations to favorite charities instead of gifts, plants as favors, and the use of upcycled decor elements throughout weddings. With wedding yard sales on the rise, we don’t see this trend slowing down anytime soon.
Mini Desserts: Another trend born out of necessity has been introducing individualized desserts. Gone is the wave of a single towering wedding cake that goes to waste. Instead, couples are having fun exploring the idea of personalized treats for their guest and cutting back on size, and compensating with details.
Statement Walls: This trend has exploded all across the industry and it is here to stay. Champagne walls adorned with gorgeous florals, dessert walls and even escort card walls. Statement walls are doing just that, making an impact and giving guests something to talk about. We love this trend and are excited to see how the industry expands on it.
Thoughtful Details: As planners, we live for all those details but 2020 has helped couples to see that just because their celebrations have gotten smaller doesn’t mean that you can’t focus on the details. In fact, the exact opposite is true. With decreased guest counts, couples now have the option to stretch their budgets to include things like cohesive stationary, custom ring boxes and even playful signage.
