With the entire world currently standing still, it may seem like wedding planning is also at a halt, but quite the contrary. Wedding planning moving forward will undoubtedly look a lot different than it did just a few short months ago. However, there is still plenty of planning that can be done to keep up the momentum of your big day! Here are 5 tips to assist you while planning your wedding during COVID-19.
1. Think Positive. The COVID19 pandemic is unlike anything any of us have experienced in this lifetime. With so much information coming from so many different sources, it’s easy to quickly become overwhelmed. Throw in the idea of planning an entire wedding on top of it all, and it’s no wonder some may be feeling lost. First things first, know that it’s OKAY to be sad and it’s okay to cry, but you can’t stay in that place for long. Pick yourself back up and remind yourself that you are not alone. Take time to get your emotions in check and then get back to work! It’s crucially important to establish a support system of encouraging & uplifting friends/family members to help you through this time. Your wedding vendors can also be a helpful resource. They can offer practical advice or guide you to other resources that you can utilize to make planning your wedding during COVID19 feel a little less overwhelming.
2. Book/contact your wedding venue, asap! Now you might be asking yourself, “how can I visit the venues on my list when I can’t go anywhere, or they aren’t open?” We’ve got good news, many venues are adapting to this pandemic by offering virtual tours. Click here to view The Osprey’s Virtual Tour experience. There are many benefits to engaging with a virtual tour rather than waiting for an in-person visit. Virtual tours allow you & your significant other to take your time and peruse every room of your favorite venues, from the comfort of your own home. Making it, so you don’t have to worry about being rushed or having another appointment come in behind you and cut your tour short. A bonus, you can even turn this experience into a fun weekend activity that you and your entire wedding party do together! Grab your favorite drink and go on several virtual venue tours as a group. It’s doubly important now if you are considering a date within the next year and a half, to get a jump on booking your venue sooner than later. Now more than ever, there are even more eyes on available dates due to previous weddings having to be postponed & rescheduled all around the country.
3. Reach out to your wedding vendors. With the wedding industry being struck hard by the COVID-19 restrictions, wedding pros are anxious to work with and help couples who are in the midst of the planning process. Like our venue, many of these wedding professionals are putting their creative skills to use by offering unique ways to stay connected to couples. Zoom consultations, virtual bridal dress appointments, and social distance tastings for catering & bakeries are just some of the ways that industry pros are continuing to stay hard at work. Whatever side of the planning process you fall on, it’s time to reach out and make plans with these vendors now. And remember, a little bit of patience and compassion when working with your wedding vendors can go a long way. We are all in this together.
4. Create a wedding website. Take advantage of today’s technological resources and create a website that guests can easily access for all the essential updates regarding your big day. Wedding websites provide an economical and practical way to inform your guest of any and all wedding day changes. If your formal invitations have already gone out, avoid the cost of a new set of invites…which we all know can be pretty expensive… by merely updating your wedding website. If you are just getting started in the planning process, be sure to include the website link on your save the dates and instruct guests that this is where they can look for any and all wedding news. With a wedding website, updating your wedding guests can be one less thing for you to stress about as you continue to plan your special day.
5. Your love is not canceled. Even though it may seem challenging to continue planning your big day, there is still so much you can do to celebrate your love. If you had to postpone your wedding, consider doing something special to honor your previous wedding date. Make your OG wedding day a ‘date night’ for you and your boo. Or go on a hike and have a picnic, just the two of you. Consider making it a social affair and round up your closest wedding guests to host a virtual dance party together. Creating a new and happy memory to associate with your original date is a great way to help maintain a positive perspective and keep things from feeling completely out of control. If you and your partner to be can make it through COVID-19, then there is nothing you won’t be able to face in your futures together….and that is TOTALLY worth celebrating!
We continue to send love and strength to each and every one of you. To all frontline professionals, we THANK YOU for your daily sacrifices. Take care of yourself and know that we miss you. Most of all, we can’t wait to help you celebrate your love again soon!
