Everybody knows weddings can be costly. But that doesn’t mean that you should throw your money away on needless odds and ends to obtain a gorgeous wedding- that’s where we come in. We’re here to help you eliminate unnecessary expenses without compromising your vision for a dream wedding. Read our list below on ways you can save your budget while still having the celebration you’ve always dreamed of.
Wedding favors. Before you purchase those handmade, bejeweled favors for each one of your guests, consider all the things you’ll invest in to create a fabulous guest experience. You’ll have to pay for an excellent venue, food, drinks, entertainment, etc. Often, couples purchase too many favors, and the ones they put out just get left behind. So do your wallet a favor and skip the guest favors. Trust us, your guest would rather take home extra dessert and the memories of a good time.
Extra paper items. This means programs, menu cards, and sometimes place cards. While we love the idea of splurging on beautiful invitations, your guests don’t need individualized menu cards to find out what’s on the menu. Instead, consider having a couple of big signs, with all the necessary information on them, strategically placed around your venue for your guests to access if they choose. Doing this will save you money and maybe a few trees too.
Flowers. Before you panic, we certainly don’t mean that flowers aren’t a lovely addition to weddings. We love flowers, but they aren’t the only way to make a big statement. Depending on the types of flowers you wish to incorporate into your wedding, the cost can add up very quickly. Instead, think about working more greenery or candles into your big day. A room full of lush green and romantic candlelight can be just as stunning as a room full of big, beautiful blooms. If you just can’t fathom the idea of not having any florals at your wedding, repurposing your bridesmaid’s bouquets and alter decor for the reception is a great way to stretch your budget.
Champagne Toast. Expect to pay at least 5 dollars or more per person, depending on the bubbly you choose, to have a champagne toast at your wedding. That can add up quickly and, we’ll let you in on a little secret, most guests take 1 sip of their sparkling beverage and return to their drink of choice. Instead of pouring all that bubbly down the drain, opt for guests to toast with whatever drink they choose and spend that money to upgrade your bar.
A Full Bar. Speaking of the bar, you don’t need to serve every drink your guests might like at your wedding. While having a well-stocked bar might be an enticing incentive for your guests, it can add thousands to your overall bill depending on how large your wedding party is. Your guests will be no less happy with a limited menu consisting of beer & wine. If you still want to offer liquor as an option, do so by creating 1 or 2 signature cocktails and keep the party going.
Ring bearers/Flower girls. Having these little cuties at your wedding can be an opportunity to capture those adorable ceremony photos. However, if there is one thing kids are known for, it’s having their own agenda. And the last thing you want is for any one of them to scream their way down the aisle once the spotlight is on and hundreds of faces they’ve never seen before are staring at them. If you choose to incorporate tiny humans into your big celebration, do take the time to consider their temperament and overall personality. Ask yourself or their parents, is this a task they will enjoy? Will they understand what is expected of them entirely? Have they participated in a wedding before? Remember children are their own people too and if you’re inviting them to be a part of your celebration you want to make sure they have a good time too.
Tradition. The most beautiful thing about your wedding is that it is YOURS. You have the option of incorporating as many or none of the traditional wedding day elements into your special celebration. If doing a bouquet or garter toss gives you more anxiety than joy, skip those activities. Don’t have the budget for an expensive multi-tiered wedding cake or don’t like cake -sheet cake, cupcakes, cookies, or even pie are all deliciously savvy ways to still offer your guests a sweet treat without breaking the bank. Remember, your wedding day is all about you and your fiance, so do or don’t do whatever makes you happiest.
