How Did You Meet?
Emil and Adrienne remember meeting each other at a mutual friend’s mom’s funeral on February 24, 2018 (they had met the night Trump was elected in 2016, but barely remember).
Introduced by their mutual friends, they talked a little bit during the funeral reception. As soon as they both left the funeral, Emil Facebook-friend-requested Adrienne and two days later, he wrote her a Facebook message.
Their first date was on March 4, 2018. They had lunch at Mai Thai in Old Town Alexandria. Lunch went so well that they walked around Old Town and watched the movie, “The Greatest Showman.”
How Did They Ask?
Emil had this grand, laid back idea of proposing on Leap Year with a fortune cookie that said, “Will you marry me?” He bought the fortune cookie from Amazon, and had it rush delivered in time for a special Saturday afternoon.
He went to pick up a lunch special General Tso’s chicken and switched out the fortune cookie with the one he bought off Amazon.
Before they ate, he made Adrienne open the fortune cookie. He got down on one knee and proposed with her high school class ring (the engagement ring they picked out together hadn’t arrived yet).
When Did You Know They Were The One?
They both knew deep down that each other was the one on their first date.
How Long Were You Guys Together Before Tying The Knot?
3 years.
What Made You Decide To Book The Ospreys?
They toured the venue right at the beginning of COVID with Adrienne’s mom, and even though everything was put away for cleaning, it was beautiful. The person who greeted them was so friendly and gave them as much of a tour as she could during COVID times. The best part was that the venue was not too far from their house!
How Did You Choose Your Other Wedding Vendors
Recommendations from friends, recommendations by other vendors, researching online, and finally, The Knot.
What Was Your Favorite Part of The Wedding Planning Process? Least Favorite?
Their favorite part was doing it all on their own without a wedding planner and/or much help from family and friends because they now feel like any future event they plan will be a breeze.
Their least favorite was nailing down the day of schedule/timeline, but luckily their Osprey’s Director helped make that process smooth.
What Was The Theme or Vibe That You Were Trying To Achieve On Your Wedding Day?
They wanted an organized wedding that would be fun for their guests.
Tell Us About Your Dress Shopping Journey/Tux
Adrienne found her dress during her first dress shopping experience at Elegance By Roya Bridal Atelier, Tysons Corner. Her appointment went a little over its scheduled hour as she realized that the style she originally thought she wanted didn’t look as good as the one she finally settled on. She was very excited that her dream dress was discontinued and therefore discounted, as it allowed her to spend more money on other parts of the wedding.
Adrienne convinced Emil to look for suits at Nordstrom in Tysons Corner, where they found the one during their first trip there. Nordstrom fitted it for Emil the same day. They let him know when it was ready to pick up. It was perfect for him and made him.
What Inspired You To Pick The Florals From Your Bouquet?
Originally, this was one Vendor Adrienne and Emil thought they were going to cheap out on and buy flowers from Costco. However, the idea of having to put the florals together themselves began to stress Adrienne out, so she found their florist through The Knot. They ended up being extremely satisfied with their florist and would highly recommend her to anyone. She made all the choices for Adrienne’s bouquet when Adrienne told her their color scheme of primarily blue, with light pink, ivory, white, blush and greenery.
What Was One Moment From Your Wedding Day That Stands Out The Most?
Getting to read their vows to each other. Even if everything leading up to, during, and after the wedding was not perfect, that moment and their vows were. Their officiant said they were the best vows ever. Their guests still tell them to this day that their vows were funny, endearing, and made them want to laugh and cry. It was the moment in their lives that they could live over and over again if they had to.
How Did You Decide on The Attire For Your Wedding Party
Adrienne and Emil’s favorite color is blue, which led to the bridesmaid dresses in different shades of blue. Adrienne loves light pink with blue, so for the groomsmen, she chose navy blue suits and pants, light blue collared shirts, and light pink ties and pocket squares. The ring and sign bearers had to have the blue themed collared shirts with light pink bow ties and suspenders. The flower girl had to have a white dress with a navy blue ribbon around her waist to tie in with the blue theme.
Tell Us About Why You Chose Your First Dance Song
They chose the instrumental version of “Wake Up” by Coheed and Cambria because they both liked this band before they met and they went to their concert together while they were dating.
Since they did not plan on perfecting a first dance, they decided to distract their guests from that by having two of the best singers in Emil’s family sing their first dance song.
Now That It Is Over, What Would You Change or Do Differently if You Could? Why?
Adrienne would make sure not to procrastinate on any wedding planning until the week before the wedding and she would take off work for the whole week before their wedding.
What is Next For The New Mrs and Ms?
Adrienne will change her last name and they will go on many mini moons and plan their honeymoon.
